RIE® Parent-Infant Guidance™ classes are based on Magda Gerber's Educaring® Approach.  Classes are a special opportunity for parents and their infants to come together once a week in a calming environment, where infants are allowed to unfold in their own way, and at their own pace.  In these classes, parents will learn the basic principles of the approach, and how to incorporate the principles into their parenting.  Some of the principles include:

  • Including the child in all aspects of caregiving to encourage the infant to be an active participant versus a passive recipient.

  • Time for uninterrupted play.

  • Establishing clearly defined limits and expectations to encourage discipline.

  • Creating an environment that is physically safe, cognitively challenging, and emotionally nurturing. (RIE Manual)

Classes are a wonderful way to meet and connect with other local families that share in a similar parenting style.   They are designed for children between 3-24 months of age, and when possible, are grouped based on similar developmental stages.  Classes meet once a week for an hour and a half in 8 week sessions. Classes are designed to be on-going until the youngest child in the group turns 2.  If you are interested in receiving more information regarding  classes, please visit the "Contact" page to submit  your information, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
